The Free Venice Resistance was a group of anti-war and anti development activists in Venice Beach LA during the 1970s, they were engaged in an ongoing struggle to preserve the Venice community as they knew it.
This poster was produced by Peace Press, a political collective and print shop that operated from 1967 - 1987 in various locations across Los Angeles. While their offices were never located in Venice, at least 28 Peace Press workers and at least 15 members of The Resistance (against the war in Vietnam) lived in Venice at the time. Peace Press was born when dissenting students and local activists could not find a company willing to print anti-Vietnam war literature. They continued printing for hundreds of political groups and causes until its closure in 1987.
